  • Alliance Trust Cateran YOMP

    Following the huge success of its debut in 2011, Lorraine Kelly launched a call for team entries and sub-sponsors for the Alliance Trust Cateran Yomp in 2012. Lorraine joined 5 soldiers in her home town of Dundee ahead of the 52 mile walk along the Cateran Trail which starts in Blairgowrie.


    Unlike other walking challenges, the Alliance Trust Cateran Yomp offers something for everyone, with Bronze (22 miles), Silver (36.5 miles) or Gold (52 miles) routes along the Cateran Trail which starts in Blairgowrie - there’s a challenge for everyone!

  • Fife enjoy Networking Opportunities

    Fife’s only networking club for young people in business is proving popular with young entrepreneurs. The Elevator Club run by PSYBT met at Cluny Clays in November and was attended by 12 enterprising young people who have been supported to start up in business by PSYBT.

    One of Scotland's most promising new designers, Alan Moore, unveiled his brand new ten30 collection in a stunning show featuring live musical performances from Gillian Frame and Mark Brendan Farmer from The 17th Century last month (October) at the Malmaison Hotel, Glasgow.

  • Perth Race Day Success

    After two successful events in August, the Perth Race Day and the Stagecoach Gala Dinner, The Prince's Charities were presented with a cheque for £236,000 from money raised through the two high profile events. 


    First Minister, Alex Salmond said "I am very proud to have been involved with this project. We had originally set a target of £200,000, although we kept this private because it seemed like such a huge amount. To get £236,000 is extraordinary and way beyond anybody's expectations."

  • Patrick McDonald named Young Entrepreneur of the Year

    Patrick McDonald (20) founder of Superior Catering & Leisure has been named PSYBT 'Young Entrepreneur of the Year'.  He beat off competition from hundreds of PSYBT backed businesses from all over Scotland who were eligible for this year’s Award, held at Glasgow City Chambers.

  • Strung Out Guitars has become the latest PSYBT backed business to start giving back to the Charity on a regular basis. The company was established by Guitar Making college buddies Louise Carruthers and Paula Russell 8 years ago after they met studying Stringed Instrument Repair at Anniesland College in Glasgow.
    After moving to London and completing HND's in Musical Instrument Technology at London Guildhall University they both worked as self-employed Guitar Technicians and Repairers.


  • The Evening Times, along with a large number of British local and regional newspapers, is running a local business accelerator competition.


    They are looking for early-stage companies in or around Glasgow who have been trading between one and three years that would benefit from free editorial coverage and free advertising in the Evening Times plus three months of mentoring from either Willie Haughey, Martin Stepek or Michelle Mone.

    Every day in the UK people talk about making a change in their life and consider starting up a business. By connecting individuals to practical support and those who have done it already, Global Entrepreneurship Week 2011 will help turn these exchanges into the businesses of tomorrow.

  • Anna Devitt was funded by PSYBT in 2010 to pursue her dream of being a stand up comedian.  That dream became reality when Anna, from Erskine, appeared in front of four million viewers on Lee Mack’s All Star Cast Show.  Contestants have just 15 seconds to come up with something original that can entertain the nation.  Anna unveiled ‘Truffel’, a singing and wise-cracking character painted on her stomach.  She won the competition which was judged by Fern Cotton and Frank Skinner and subsequently made it on to the show the following week to appear in front of a new pane

PSYBT Awards

Shoe designer Emily Lamb has been nominated for a Scottish Variety Award under the ‘Best new Scottish Artist or Designer’ category. Emily was funded by PSYBT in 2010 and her hand made shoes have been very well received by those in the fashion industry. After Graduating from Cordwainers, part of the London College of Fashion which specialises in footwear, she decided to launch her own collection, ensuring every creation was unique with their own original feature and pattern.
