  • PSYBT Alumni supporters

    Friends and Alumni of the Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust are being challenged to kick-start the careers of the next generation of young entrepreneurs - by making a cash donation. Already, numerous entrepreneurs who were helped at the outset of their business life by the PSYBT are choosing to give something back. PSYBT is enormously grateful to the following Alumni supporters:

  • Sue with the team at Truly Scrumptious
    West Lothian regional chair Sue Cook cycles 700 km to Germany!

    Six cyclists including PSYBT’s Chair of West Lothian, Sue Cook, headed to Meschde on 26th May to complete The West Lothian to Hochsaureland Cycle Ride 2011. This is the first cycle ride from West Lothian to its twinning partner in Germany. The inaugural event was supported by West Lothian Council staff and school pupils who helped to raise funds for four charities including PSYBT.

    A few years ago PSYBT set an ambitious objective to radically overhaul our IT systems. Our vision was to establish an integrated system that would add value, improve our productivity and efficiency, to the way we communicate with and support our clients, volunteers and partners and enhance our ability to effectively report on the impact of our work to both existing and potential supporters.

  • PSYBT Business Awards

    The Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust leads Scotland in the promotion and support of self-employment and business creation among young people. Established in 1989 by HRH The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, PSYBT has invested over £36 million in Scotland’s economy creating over 10,000 businesses started with loan funding and grants.

    PSYBT’s challenge is to raise almost £1M from donations each year to sustain its package of financial support and free advice to aspiring young entrepreneurs. A regular gift starting from £10 per month really can add up to make a huge difference.
    PSYBT’s updated website offers an easy way for its volunteers, entrepreneurs, partners and staff to get more involved.

    Scottish Fashion Awards 2011

    Two of five young PSYBT businesses shortlisted at the 2011 Scottish Fashion Awards were winners at the gala ceremony in Glasgow on June 15th. Henrietta Ludgate, who was funded in 2009 to set up her Scottish luxury womenswear label, was named Scottish Young Designer of the Year. The Highlands-based entrepreneur has built a formidable reputation among highend retailers. She won Ethical Fashion Forum’s Fashion Innovation Award last year for her LFW spring/summer collection, which was such a success that it went on to the fashion weeks of Milan, Paris and Athens.

  • Award Winners with Mark Strudwick of PSYBT and Jamie and Louise Moffat
    Red Roof Cafe Gallery wins top tourism award

    A young artist and her partner who converted a disused outbuilding on the island of Skye into a gallery café clinched the top prize at the annual Moffat Travel and Tourism Awards.


    Elly Knight (31) co-founder of The Red Roof Café Gallery won the Moffat Award for best Scottish tourism business with outstanding economic and community impact, and a £1500 cash prize.


    The awards were launched in July 2007 by The Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust (PSYBT) thanks to generous support from The Moffat Charitable Trust.

  • Michelle Mone
    Michelle Mone winner at Glasgow's Lord Provost Awards

    PSYBT supported business and Board Member Michelle Mone, was honoured as part of the annual awards by Glasgow's Lord Provost Bob Winter. She received the Lord Provost's award for business. Michelle Mone is the co-owner of MJM International and creator of Ultimo, the UK’s leading designer lingerie brand.
    Michelle is listed as one of the top three female entrepreneurs in the UK. She began employment in sales and marketing, however after a ‘lightbulb’ moment with her husband Michael, they set up their business in November 1996, with a £5,000 loan and support from PSYBT.

PSYBT Awards

Shoe designer Emily Lamb has been nominated for a Scottish Variety Award under the ‘Best new Scottish Artist or Designer’ category. Emily was funded by PSYBT in 2010 and her hand made shoes have been very well received by those in the fashion industry. After Graduating from Cordwainers, part of the London College of Fashion which specialises in footwear, she decided to launch her own collection, ensuring every creation was unique with their own original feature and pattern.
