Whaapp Ltd

A new smart phone application business could bring a more convenient and safer method of booking a taxi within Aberdeen.

TaxiApp is being launched by a trio of young Aberdeen professionals, Craig Angus, Eleanor Powell-Jackson and Craig Burnett, who set-up Whaapp Limited last year with the help of PSYBT to develop web and smart phone based multimedia applications.

TaxiApp will be the first application launched during 2012 and will allow users to instantly book a taxi through their mobile phone.  The app will register the users’ location through GPS, alerting registered taxi firms who can accept the fare and collect the customer directly from their location.

The app is due to be launched and piloted in Aberdeen from late spring of 2012 and then developed to expand into London and other UK cities thereafter.

Chief Executive Officer, Craig Angus said: “We’re excited about releasing Taxiapp in Aberdeen.  We are currently in discussions with a number of local and national taxi firms to work with them through the implementation phase.  We’re also working with an innovative London based app developer and Aberdeen will be our first launch city.”

“TaxiApp will enable any visitor to the city, at any time of day or night, to conveniently book a taxi pick-up from their current location or order for a later location.  This certainly reduces the need for users to walk the streets to get a taxi, ultimately helping to maintain people’s safety,” added Craig.
