Scottish Martial Arts Centre

Getting a ‘kick’ out of running his own business, is Adam Paterson of the Scottish Martial Arts Centre in Tullibody, near Alloa in Clackmannanshire. Adam is a full-time instructor with over 16 years’ training in Taekwon-Do. He holds a third degree black belt and has won gold medals at the Scottish, English and British Championships in both ITF Taekwon-do and kickboxing. He was also a member of the Scottish team to win Gold Medals at the 2007 XIV ITF World Championships and was a double bronze medallist at the 2008 and 2009 WKA Kickboxing Championships.

In 2010 Adam approached PSYBT for additional support to enable him to expand his Taekwon-do instruction business. Now based in Dumyat Business Park he runs a popular, modern and fully-equipped martial arts and fitness facility – the Scottish Martial Arts Centre. As well as the Korean martial art of Taekwon-do, Adam has a team of instructors from other disciplines teaching classes at the Centre including kickboxing, muay thai, MMA, submission wrestling, Krav Maga and Ju-Jitsu. Also on offer at the Centre are classes in tai chi, pilates, yoga and fitness.

The ‘dojang’ - training hall - has some of the best equipment available to students including focus pads, kick shields, breaking apparatus, punch bags, fitness equipment and a matted area. Taekwon-do classes are aimed at all ages, from the youngest - the ‘TKD Tigers’ (3-6 years) - through Junior, Teenager and Senior disciplines. All classes are tailored to both sexes. The Centre also houses a fully equipped gym where its members can improve their strength and conditioning and has a second hall where smaller classes and personal training takes place. This also allows the junior classes to be split according to age.

The Scottish Martial Arts Centre features a Proshop selling a full range of Taekwon-Do, kickboxing and MMA clothing and equipment.
