Neil Moffat Security Systems

Neil Moffat always wanted to be his own boss. Coming from a family of entrepreneurs (Neil’s parents are famers), working hard and achieving results was something he was familiar with from a very early age.
“It seemed like the obvious thing to do. I always wanted to start my own business. I’m a hard worker and enjoy creating my own income.”
After leaving school, Neil attended Bolton College where he completed a three and a half year apprenticeship in engineering before starting a job as an engineer for a well know security firm. Neil enjoyed his job but felt he could offer something different with a more personal and tailored service.
In 2004 he launched Moffat Security Systems. The aim was, and still is, to offer a high level of customer service at a reasonable price. Originally the business operated from his home in Annan and specialised in the design, installation and maintenance of Intruder and Fire Alarm Systems for mainly commercial customers. However, as the business grew, Neil found that he was also providing security systems for the domestic market too.
Eight years later and the business has changed significantly. After receiving further funding from PSYBT’s Growth Fund, Moffat Security Systems moved into commercial premises and became National Security Inspectorate (NSI) accredited. The business now provides additional services such as installing CCTV systems, door access and automated barriers/gates, extinguisher and emergency lighting systems and works with a multitude of insurance firms to complete insurance work. It has also expanded to cover many new areas and sees Neil go as far as Lancashire to full fill a contract to multiple primary schools.
Neil also employs an engineer and his wife manages the company office. In the future he plans to continue targeting new areas, employ an Engineer and Installation Manager to allow him more time to secure contracts and make sales, and become a one stop shop for all security requirements.
