Life's a beach!

Working in public relations in a rural location seems like a recipe for a very quiet day, but a young PR and events consultant is determined to prove there's money to be made. Twenty-five year-old Pauline Foster, who has a BA Honours degree in Marketing Management, left her marketing post at Dobbies Garden Centre, near Edinburgh, to set up Pure Shores, her own PR and events agency in Oban. "I believe my services will help attract even more visitors to the many exciting businesses and events going on out here” explains Pauline. “I am passionate about the west coast of Scotland and its beauty. I feel very lucky to be here." She has already picked up some interesting clients: Whisky Coast - a collaboration of 16 whisky distilleries along the west coast of Scotland, along with a number of hotels, restaurants and golf courses; Vertical Descents - an outdoor activity provider in Fort William; and Duart Castle, on the Isle of Mull.

Pauline was the Regional Winner of the PSYBT Argyll Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2010, which recognised her achievements since starting the business. Pure Shores offers bespoke publicity services that primarily aim to achieve editorial coverage in the media. With excellent media contacts, Pauline’s services include organising press trips, writing features & news stories, plus setting up competitions and promotions. Pure Shores' event management service can design and organise a range of events from corporate entertainment and product launches to tourist events. Pauline adds "I have received such excellent support from the local community and I would like to say a big thank you to Oban for making me feel so welcome."
