Lesley Anne Derks Artist

Nightscape artist Lesley Anne Derks from Grangemouth in Forth Valley has landed a major publishing deal with art publishers Washington Green. Lesley Anne, who graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Glasgow School of Art in 1999, has until recently been exhibiting originals of her night-time cityscapes in galleries in the UK, and abroad as far as Cannes and New York. Now for the first time, her work is being made available as limited edition prints and can be found on sale throughout Washington Green’s galleries and partnerships all over the UK. “This is new territory for me and I’m very excited about it. Prints give me the opportunity to make my work more accessible to a wider audience” commented Lesley Anne.

PSYBT supported Lesley Anne in 2001 when she decided to take up her artistic career on a full-time basis. After a successful degree show and having been on an exchange visit to Barcelona, she was inspired by the city at night and, on her return, began experimenting with the glowing reflections of her home town’s industrial night landscape. Her work in oils and mixed media gained many admirers and over the years she has painted a growing number of city nightscapes – from New York to London to Hong Kong, all the time captured in her own unique atmospheric style. Lesley Anne paints from her studio at Delta Studios in Larbert and also enjoys teaching one afternoon a week. Lesley Anne adds “I’m getting positive feedback from customers who have seen and bought my prints, which is very encouraging. It’s been a great move forward for me and as a signed artist I will be getting the opportunity to show my work at many more galleries.” In Scotland you can find Lesley Anne’s prints in Castle Gallery in Glasgow’s Princes Square and Breeze Galleries in Jenners, Princes Street, Edinburgh.
