Judith Thorpe’s involvement with PSYBT started back in June of 1997, when together with her friend, Karen Molloy, they were granted a Start Up Loan facility which helped them pursue their business ambitions.
Judith and Karen met while working together to establish a new office in Aberdeen for a national recruitment agency. Constrained by the bureaucracy of a large plc, their entrepreneurial spirit led them to start their own consultancy, specialising in accountancy recruitment. With the assistance of the PSYBT loan, which was repaid within 12 months, they founded Thorpe Molloy Recruitment Ltd.
Judith is now a PSYBT Ambassador, a Panel Member and regularly participates in chairing the PSYBT Funding panels which review business plans and provides advice to those hoping to receive assistance to start their own business.
Thorpe Molloy Recruitment has flourished with its achievements recognised in numerous recruitment and business award s. Last year Judith was a finalist in the Grampian Awards for Business Enterprise having been nominated for the Entrepreneurial Supporter of the Year award, on behalf of the work she does for PSYBT.
Outwith PSYBT, Judith is also a board member of Corners Turned Ltd, a social enterprise that helps to generate income to support Cornerstone's services to provide employment and training opportunities for people with support needs such as learning disabilities, physical disabilities or mental health problems.
Alongside Karen, Judith ran the New York Marathon in November 2011, raising over £16,000 in aid of children’s charity Dreams Come True.
