Grace Smith started her business GraceInk Design in 2009 and produces hand illustrated, screen-printed interior textile products, fashion accessories and paper giftware with designs inspired by Grace's travels abroad and closer to home. GraceInk Design is based at WASPS (Workshop And Studio Provision Scotland) in Selkirk and the majority of the work is printed by herself onsite. She currently travels all over the country to a range of selling and promotion events which have included New Designers: One Year On, Made by Hand in Wales, The Selvedge Spring Fair in London, the Art Market in Holmfirth and Byer's Road Makers Market in Glasgow.
As well as receiving funding from PSYBT to get her business started, she has also been supported from Crossing Borders and Scottish Borders Council to take her work to her first trade fair in April 2012. Grace will be attending The British Craft Trade Fair (BCTF) in Harrogate, the biggest of it's kind in the UK specialising in hand-crafted goods. Her work is stocked in boutiques and galleries across the UK and she is currently working on broadening the scope on this, as well as coming up with some new design work for 2012. During 2011, Grace had the opportunity to run workshops on screen-printing at a Creative Residency run by North Lanarkshire Council and at a Design Conference held in Doncaster which she had great fun doing and hopes to expand on in 2012.
