Giglets Ltd was established in March 2008. The business was originally part of Young Enterprise Scotland programme and some of the members decided the idea would be a viable business. Craig Johnstone is the primary contact and driving force behind the business. They produce and sell children’s books which promote the learning of Scottish history, culture and heritage. The first book is an illustrated adaptation of the Robert Burns epic “Tam O Shanter’ featuring Tam O’Haggis as the main character. Giglets published a new book this year ‘Tam O’Haggis: The Life and Times of Robert Burns’ where Tam O’Haggis takes a trip to Burns’ cottage in Alloway to learn about his favourite poet, Robert Burns. Their books are on sale throughout the country and provide a colourful and interactive way of learning. To accompany the books, Giglets have produced audio CD’s for younger or visually impaired readers.
More recently, the first Giglets ebooks were just launched on Apple and Amazon. They are a modern way to learn about classic literature without having to read the original works. The easiest way to find the ebooks is to go to iTunes, then search for "Giglets". Currently 2 ebooks are for sale, at 99 pence each.
You can set an "Alert" for Giglets, this way you always know when a new book has been launched.
