Carpet Fresh

Jamie Lindsay had worked in the engineering industry for over 5 years when he decided to take the plunge into self employment. He began CARPETFRESH, his own carpet and upholstery cleaning company, after receiving funding from PSYBT.

Jamie was new to this area therefore took it upon himself to learn the trade, conducting research and attending courses, he is now fully NCCA trained. Jamie even took employment with a carpet cleaning company to perfect his trade, he says “I have basically taught myself everything there is to know about this service. My experiences have allowed me to see how other companies operate and I now know what I have to do to set myself above the rest.”

As well as buying transport and equipment, Jamie has also invested in advertising and marketing. He’s delivered flyers, placed newspaper adverts and built a website. He also attends several networking events and exhibitions around the Glasgow area, this allows customers to meet Jamie, the face of the company, meaning potential domestic and commercial customers can enquire into the service on a 1 to 1 basis.

Jamie understands that it can take a company years to build up a reputation but says interest in his service is gradually increasing over time which makes him feel positive about the future of his business.
