Map of Scotland with Argyll and The Islands highlightedThe Region
Welcome to the beautiful region of Argyll & the Islands. My name is Kate Fraser and I am Regional Manager for this area. With such a large region to cover, I'm often out and about, so why not give me a call to find out when I'm next in your area? Whether you are a young person just starting to think that self employment might be for you, or an experienced business person happy to volunteer a few hours a month to help advise a new business, I'm keen to hear from you.

Age limit extended in Argyll
The upper age range for PSYBT support has been extended to 30 for people living on the islands of Argyll. PSYBT recognises the importance of encouraging young people to return to or stay on these islands. “Young people can make a real contribution to the economy of these islands” says Regional Chairman, Murdo MacLeod of MacLeod Construction. “For anyone aged 18-30 who is thinking about starting their own business, I’d urge them to get in touch - PSYBT can offer impartial, practical advice and funding.”

Want to be your own boss?
  • Have you got a hobby that could earn you a living? We've helped set up surf schools on Tiree and carriage driving on Arran
  • Have you got a skill and are frustrated working for someone else? From hairdressers to joiners, tree surgeons to jewellers, we've helped people start out for themselves
  • Have you got a good idea, or seen something elsewhere that you think could work in your area? Whether it's running art classes, maintaining boats or grooming dogs, we've given a helping hand to young businesses
If you are thinking about setting up your own business then give me a call, or come into the office in Lochgilphead. I'm happy to talk through any ideas you have, and explore how PSYBT can help you. I can also come out and visit you, if that's more convenient. It's also important to talk to HIE Argyll and the Islands, as they can help you with free business planning advice, workshops and maybe even provide additional funding for your business.
