Giving To PSYBT

Join our Corporate Support Scheme
Your financial support as a Business Partner could be directed at young people who come from the region or community in which your business operates. These young people will become the suppliers and customers that benefit both the community and businesses like your own. As a PSYBT Business Partner you will enable Scotland's young people to transform their lives by becoming self-employed, creating employment for others and contributing to the country's economy. This programme is also attracting the financial support of businesses which themselves were set up with the help of PSYBT in the past – our very own PSYBT Alumni!

To find our more about our Corporate Support Scheme, please contact Katherine Malcolm on 0141 243 5364 or use the contact form on this page.
Sponsor a Young Person to enable them to start up in business
PSYBT will match your donation to a new start-up business in an industry and geographical area of your choice. Our Marketing department will arrange a press release and photo call to maximise press coverage for your business and keep you updated with the progress of the new business.

Sponsorship Opportunities
There are many areas of PSYBT's work which would benefit from corporate sponsorship. The following are examples of some of our major partnerships.

PSYBT Business Awards
Our young entrepreneurs work hard for their success and to reward them, we are proud to host the annual PSYBT Business Awards.  2009 is the 15th year of the Awards. Over 600 young entrepreneurs are eligible to enter and 18 regional finals will take place across Scotland throughout September, culminating in the national final to be held in Glasgow in November. The PSYBT Business Awards have become one of Scotland's most prestigious business awards and a truly impressive and inspiring highlight of the Scottish entrepreneurial calendar. This year's winners, James Watt and Martin Dickie of BrewDog, are worthy winners indeed, now supplying customers in 16 countries worldwide from their microbrewery in Fraserburgh.

In 2008, local sponsorship for each of the 18 Regional Awards was covered by a wide cross-section of the Scottish business and enterprise community, as illustrated. We are grateful for the support of all of our sponsors, whose commitment to this flagship makes the Awards so very special. PSYBT would love to speak to any potential new sponsors for the 2009 Awards, please contact rebecca.logan@psybt.org.uk

The Royal Bank of Scotland
The Royal Bank of Scotland has been one of PSYBT's longest-standing supporters, having previously sponsored our Business Awards. This year, we began a new chapter in our partnership, focussing on helping PSYBT to improve our support for the most vulnerable young people who come to us for help. A key aim is to improve the outreach and ongoing support to prospective young entrepreneurs, via a variety of partner and referral agencies, as well as to achieve better retention on, and through, our core business start-up and support programme.
BT Scotland
PSYBT are entering their ninth year of the BT Scotland Young E-ntrepreneurs Scheme, which assists young entrepreneurs who are aiming to make significant use of e-commerce and communication technology in their new businesses. The young people that are nominated to receive start-up funding through this innovative scheme are then eligible for an additional cash prize at the annual BT Scotland Young E-ntrepreneurs Awards ceremony.

Microsoft Scotland
PSYBT have been working closely with Microsoft Scotland very closely on a number of levels: we are proud to receive the support of Microsoft staff, who volunteer to mentor our young entrepreneurs as they start up in businesses; the company also supported the creation of a new 'Comms Room' at PSYBT’s Head Office, available for training and meetings; we are grateful for Microsoft’s expert technical advice; and their terrific fundraising support after this year's Microsoft Scotland Burns Celebration event in Edinburgh. Most recently, a group of PSYBT-backed businesses also attended a celebration reception to mark this flourishing relationship, now stretching over five years.

The young entrepreneurs had the opportunity to meet both Raymond O’Hare, director of Microsoft Scotland, and Gordon Frazer, managing director of Microsoft UK, as well as a host of other businesses. Says Mr O’Hare: "Microsoft Scotland are committed to making a significant impact across Scottish business, government and the community; our partnership with PSYBT in every way complements these goals. PSYBT, through its excellent work and approach, is firmly contributing to the economic welfare and growth of Scotland, by ensuring that young businesses are given the help they need to start-up, grow and develop. Without PSYBT, many great business ideas would never see the light of day; and many people's lives would be all the poorer for this. PSYBT depends on some 600 professional volunteers across Scotland to help assess business plans and to mentor this new generation of entrepreneurs in their first years of trading. Scottish Government is very keen to promote and drive a culture of volunteering and, as a company, Microsoft Scotland is proud to be playing a significant part in this, together with PSYBT."
Martin Currie
Last year, PSYBT was selected as one of Edinburgh-based investment firm Martin Currie's charity partners. The relationship has flourished, with a number of staff now on board as volunteers with PSYBT, and of course, through our involvement with the company's hugely successful Rob Roy Challenge which has raised over £50,000 for PSYBT. Other charity beneficiaries of the event in 2009 are The Prince's Trust, Sightsavers International and The Place2Be.  PSYBT is very much looking forward to the Challenge on Saturday 20th June, and if you are interested in participating or supporting the event, please take a look at http://www.robroychallenge.com
